In this episode of the SAATKORN podcast, I speak with Susanne Schlossbauer, Senior Content Marketing Manager at Personio. Susanne has been with Personio for seven years and is deeply involved in the major issues currently transforming HR—including as the host of the Personio HR Podcast.
This time, we’re taking a closer look at the Personio HR Insights Report 2026. For this report, more than 3,000 HR decision-makers and 6,000 employees across several European markets were surveyed. And the results reveal an intriguing gap: AI is already being used extensively in HR—but there’s a world of difference between simply trying out AI tools and truly integrating AI into data, processes, and the organization.
A quote from Susanne sums it up particularly well:
“If I have certain processes and I try to layer AI on top of them, in many cases it just doesn’t work.”
In other words: AI transformation isn’t primarily about constantly introducing new tools. It’s about the foundation.
🧱 Your AI is only as good as your data 89 percent of HR executives are already using AI, but only 14 percent have deeply integrated AI with their HR data—and companies without a reliable data foundation are eight times more likely to report that AI isn’t meeting their expectations.
🚀 HR must claim its role in the AI transformation For Susanne, HR belongs at the decision-making table: skills, professional development, culture, trust, and transformation are crucial levers—and HR shouldn’t wait to be invited to play this role.
👀 Shadow AI is a wake-up call Only 31 percent of employees feel sufficiently supported by their employer when using AI, while 23 percent are already using AI on the sly—a strong argument for useful tools, clear guidelines, a willingness to experiment, and trust instead of mere bans.
