In this ‘Amtlich vorangetrieben’ episode, I speak to Michael Dippold, Head of Recruitment & Employer Branding at Stuttgart University Hospital. Over the past five years, Michael has played a key role in establishing and further developing the recruitment and HR marketing functions at one of Germany’s largest hospitals. One quote from the conversation really stuck with me:
“The Coffee Talk is candidate-centricity in its purest form.”
Among other things, we discussed the following topics:
👥 From employer branding to a strong employer identity
Starting from scratch, Klinikum Stuttgart has refined its employer brand and identified what makes the organisation special: an exceptionally strong team spirit that is genuinely put into practice every day.
☕ Recruiting without a traditional application process
With the ‘Coffee Talk’ format, nursing staff can first get to know the hospital over a coffee – without any application documents at all. The result: over 100 successful hires and a recruitment process that is consistently designed with the candidates’ perspective in mind.
🤖 Technology, AI and the future of recruitment in the healthcare sector
Michael discusses the introduction of an applicant tracking system for hundreds of stakeholders, the impact of changes in healthcare policy, and why, whilst AI offers great potential in recruitment, it cannot yet solve all the challenges.
